If you would like to transfer a domain from one domain registrar to another, you’ll have to pass through several security steps. One of them is getting a special EPP authorization code from the current registrar company – provided that you are the registrant, since the code is sent to the domain owner’s email and no one else can obtain it. You’ll need to provide this code to the new domain name registrar, or else they will not be able to initiate the domain name transfer process. The EPP authentication codes are case-sensitive and may comprise of digits or special symbols such as commas or dots, which can be easily miswritten, so make sure you copy/paste the correct code. As an additional security measure, the transfer code for a domain name may be reset on a regular basis. Some registrars refer to this code as an Auth key, a domain secret or a domain password as well.
